About Us
The Teacher Center at Purchase College, a curriculum and professional development center for teachers, was founded in 1984. Throughout the years, it has provided a variety of staff development programs and services designed to meet the needs of a nine-district consortium and the Westchester-Putnam Catholic Schools.
The Teacher Center's principles are based on standards, theory, research and models of appropriate practice. The Center offers courses, institutes, special events, conference scholarships, competitive grants, as well as networking and classroom visitation opportunities for teachers.
Since 1984, it has been governed by a Policy Board of teachers, administrators, parents, higher education faculty and representatives from the business community.
